If you are getting married this year and you haven’t planned your honeymoon just yet, hopefully this guide will help you find your ideal destination. We’ve got your usual romantic retreats, safari expeditions and even the odd city break that is certain to give you that memorable experience.
Starting off as the top romantic getaway year after year, Hawaii still ticks all the boxes as the definite place to take your honeymoon Aside from the many beautiful beaches, Hawaii’s many islands offer a number of attractions that will leave you both feeling all the better.
Second on the list of top honeymoon destinations has to be beautiful Barcelona. This Catalonian city located on Spain’s south coast offers so much to see and do that it’s probably worth checking in for a second honeymoon on your on-year anniversary. Barca, as it is known locally has a bustling night life, hundreds of top notch restaurants and bars and a number of sandy beaches perfect for a bit of r and r. There are bountiful shopping opportunities (either in one of the quirky markets and backstreet stalls or in the shopping centres) and with attraction like Sagrada Familia and Park Guell, lovers have all the right ingredients for a romantic escape.
Continuing along the city break lines, both Paris and Venice offer newlyweds the perfect getaway. Paris – the city of love – and Venice – one of the most beautiful cities on the planet – have long been top tourist destinations, but to get the most out of either city, you’re best off going as a couple. Highlights include sipping a glass of Champagne at the top of the Eiffel Tower and enjoying a romantic gondola ride along Venice’s many canals.
Norway might not appear on many honeymoon destination lists, but stick with me for a minute and I’ll explain. Norway is beautiful. Fact. The fjords alone are enough to take your breath away with their long silent waters and sheer mountain faces. Not only that, but the people are beautiful – and if you time it right, then you’ll be able to see the majestic midnight sun in all its glory, or even the northern lights which are one of the world’s most beautiful natural phenomena’s. You see, when you journey somewhere with that special someone, the romance is exaggerated by the scenery. And after space, there isn’t really anywhere else in the world that matches this Scandinavian country.
