What Not To Do in Cuba!
Marcus enjoys travelling all over the world, especially to the Caribbean! Cuba holidays and Egypt holidays are his real passion, and talking about these places is something he enjoys!
This travel guide is just designed to give you some examples of things you are best to try and avoid. So here is a list of things that if you go to Cuba of you need to be very wary of, only some are more obvious than others.
Cuba is known very well as a communist country, unfortunately the people don’t have much say at all. In fact they are bound to their country, so when you arrive here respect that this is a different place. Do not get involved with the police; try to avoid any trouble at all. There could be some very lengthy stays in Cuba if you get on the other side of the law, and not the kind you would appreciate,
Do not get involved with drugs. If you can avoid it (and most people normally can) then don’t take any, carry any with you or deliver any to anyone (known by most people around the world as “Drug Dealing”). This can and will have serious ramifications with these laws in particular being quite draconian, and instantaneous. Although the death penalty no longer exists here, if you are caught with drugs on your person you could be in Cuba for many, many years.
Ladies, this is something very important for you to remember. Cuban men are very forward in their approach to women. Most Cuban women appreciate quite a large amount of attention, including being whistled at by fat ugly builders and what not. So even if you are not wearing anything to provocative or revealing, do not be surprised if you still get a little bit of attention. Try not to get to angry about it, just let it go, what ever you do don’t egg it on, you will never get rid of them.
No public displays. What ever you do, do not draw attention to yourself in a bad manner when in public. If you are with your girl friend or wife and an argument is about to ensue, please take it inside, or just wait until you get back to the hotel. Better still just enjoy yourselves while you are out there!
Last but not least, try not to hassle people for a cigar or cigarette, especially not when drunk. They are dirt cheap, don’t get drunk and hassle the locals for a “ciggy”, you will be shunned. Just go and by some of your own cheap ones, don’t bother the nice people around you with you with your drunkenness.
