Qazvin is located at about 165 km northwest of Tehran and about 1800 meter above the sea level. He was simultaneously famous as a historian, geographer, and an epic poet.

The monument is located in the present day Qazvin, which is also spelled as Qazwin or Ghazvin. Many foreign travelers visit the structure which includes a brick-made blue turquoise conical dome. It is built using the art and architecture of the Mongolian era.

Hamdollah Mostowfi, born in 1281, was honored as a talented and multifaceted personality. He has written a number of books on Persian history, geography and epic poetry. The genius also belonged to a renowned family known as Mostowfian. Tomb of Hamdollah Mostowfi was built after he had passed away in 1349 AD.

He has created a series of notable works on various topics. Zafar-Nameh, meaning the book of victory, contains 75,000 couplets in the style of epic poetry. The book explored the history of Iran from the time of Arab conquest to the later era of Mongols, the period in which he was living himself.

The Historical Monument

A large number of foreign travelers, who travel across Qazvin, visit the structure, to pay tribute to a genius who has left his imprint on an entirely different set of faculties. The tomb is located in the modern city of Qazvin.

The Tomb of Hamdollah Mostowfi is also known as the tall dome and contains the relics of the Ilkhanid era, the ruling Mongol dynasty in Iran. It is a conical dome made by bricks and contains a wooden door as entrance on the western section of the structure. There is a quadrangular chamber built on the cellar or basement to be used as a tomb. Turquoise colored tiles are installed to cover its cornices.

It also contains an inscription in Nastaliq script describing a brief biography of the genius. Some epigraphs can also been seen in the Naskh script with Qoranic verses surrounding the base of the dome. These inscriptions can be seen on the domed ceiling of the structure made of bricks.
