This charming and welcoming traditional area is beautifully situated close enough to the connecting routes of IP3 and IC6 leading to the rest of Central Portugal.
What might you find in this region to prove a interest to living there? To start with, how about being able to take a short stroll taking you to Travanca do Mondego? Here you will come across your local Junta’s office, a gym and bike hire shop, two different mini supermarkets which have cafe/bars adjoining them and several fantastic children’s parks along with primary level education opportunities.
If you enjoy outdoor activities you will find a range of options available to suit everyone, for instance biking, equine activities and many attractive walks around the many tracks and forest walks. In addition you will find many different water sports nearby on the lakes created by the Barragem da Aguiera dam like fly fishing, sailing,boating activities, swimming or pedalos. Here the Mondego and Alva rivers form a conjunction that creates one of the Portugal’s major inland man-made lakes. In addition to finding self-tended spots along the shoreline for swimming, sunbathing, taking out a dingy, or having a BBQ, there is the Montebelo Aguiera lake resort and marina plus plenty of other restaurants and bars in the area.
Mountains exist within a twenty five min drive, and here you will find the 27-hole Montebelo golf course. This special facility provides the opportunity to play your game whilst benefiting from the incredible and picturesque Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrella mountain ranges.
Sao Pedro de Alva is only four km away. In Sao Pedro de Alva you are able to access banks, the post office, health clinic, both primary and secondary schools and yet more food outlets. The larger towns of Mortagua, Penacova and Santa Comba Dao a 15 minute drive away will satisfy your metropolitan needs and have some well stocked larger Supermarkets to choose from. The City of Coimbra is only half an hours drive away too. Coimbra in particular is well worth a visit. Of exceptional interest is its Universidade de Coimbra, one of the oldest Universities anywhere in the world. Coimbra’s Universidade was founded long ago, in 1290. Also the ancient buildings of this historic old city are sure to charm and will stay with you for years to come. Close byJust 10 min’s away is Conimbriga, where you could pay a visit to the great Roman ruins which are open to visitors.
Lagares is in the central area of Portugal, within close proximity to some stunning areas, including the Serra da Estrella National Park that sits an hour’s drive east. To the west is the coast where you can visit Figueira da Foz and Praia da Tocha.
