The air is fairer in Albufeira, some might say, it’s any old excuse really when it comes to manufacturing a reason to visit the sunny southern town in Portugal. Down by the coast you are likely to find miles of beach blessed with beautiful golden sands and there are cliffs at certain points which give you great views out onto the Atlantic Ocean. I’m not sure what attracted Sir Cliff Richard to the Algarve region other than the stunning weather, but that tends to be excuse enough for anyone.
Families appreciate the south of Portugal and all it has to offer for a relaxing getaway, but imagine the chance to down a few bottles of red wine with good old Sir Cliff. Sure you probably wouldn’t be allowed within 100 metres of him or his home, but you could at least snap up a few bottles of the wine produced in his vineyard. One thing you should certainly avoid is enjoying a few glasses of Sir Cliffs produce whilst admiring the view from Albufeira’s cliffs. It’s just not worth the risk. Perhaps the beach is a much safer and more enjoyable option.
There a few better places to enjoy such divine weather, stunning views and world class wine, especially for such tremendous value, this much is certainly true.
Anywhere that is good enough for a national treasure like Sir Cliff Richard should be more than good enough for the likes of me and you, as well as the rest of our families. Albufeira doesn’t exactly need such an iron clad seal of approval because it’s such a stunning example of what makes Europe an ideal place to enjoy great summer holidays. If you ever leave the sunny shores of Portugal’s south coast without a smile on your face, then few people would be surprised if you asked for your money back, though this is pretty much a mythical event.
I think you’ll find Portugal is often perceived as an expensive destination, which can be largely true in some places, but if you take some closer inspection you will find that it is nothing but a vicious rumour above all else. Great value will be found nowhere else in Europe, nor does anywhere else offer you mainland views of the Atlantic Ocean and the stunning sunsets that aren’t matched anywhere else. Don’t take my and Sir Cliff’s word for it, try it for yourself.
