From Giza’s to Kings – The Sands of Time
For those who have ever sat and watched the Indiana Jones trilogy and been filled with a craving for adventure immediately after I share your thirst. I am always overcome with this need to buy a faded brown leather jacket and a whip, and get chased by a giant boulder. Also I am aware that there was a fourth Indiana Jones film but I am choosing to discount it on the grounds that is was awful.

When I ponder countries that offer the most historical intrigue I always find myself thinking of Pyramids and tombs that are synonymous with Egypt. This ancient country has been blessed with a fascinating history that has enough tales and myths that will keep Hollywood scriptwriters busy for the next millennium.
Cairo is by far the busiest place for people dressed like Dr. Jones because of the massive amount of ruins and monument in the Giza Necropolis that are a tribute to Egypt’s past civilisation. Head to the Giza Pyramids where you can marvel at the Pyramid of Menkaure, Pyramid of Khafre and the Great Pyramid of Giza. Also in this region you will find the mystical Sphinx sculpture that is the body of a lion with a human head. There are various other ruins located around these structures and tombs which were the resting place for other important figures such as Hemiunu. He was the architect of the Great Pyramid of Giza which is the remaining structure on the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World list from the area.
Cairo isn’t the only destination that is blessed with plenty of intrigue, a few miles north you will find the city of Alexandria. The city was named after one Alexander the Great after his quest for world domination took him into northern Egypt. The city has become a much visited tourist destination as it is located along the Egypt’s Mediterranean coast and is a very modern city. Another popular destination is Luxor which can be found way down the River Nile in southern Egypt , whilst there you can enjoy exploring the Valley of the Kings where many of the countries Pharaohs.
If you don’t intend to travel to Egypt in your Dr. Jones get up, but instead prefer pop on a spray or two of cool waters and a skin tight white t-shirt then you might be looking towards the likes of Sharm el Sheikh. The holiday resort has become very popular amongst the summer party people and some believe it has even begun to challenge Ibiza for the title of party capital. There are many big clubs for tourists to enjoy with some of the world’s top DJ’s playing sets over the peak summer months. Diving is also very popular off Sharm’s shores because of the variety of colourful and rare marine life that inhabits the waters in the Red Sea.
