Milan is well known as being Italy’s economic business hub, but this Northern Italian City is more than just simply business. Milan is bursting with culture and excitement, from its cathedrals and churches to its fashion catwalks. With so many things to see and do in Milan I’ve decided to help those people looking to visit this wonderful city by creating a guide of the best places to see.

Il Duomo Cathedral:
This has to be one of Milan’s biggest attractions and tallest monuments. It is symbolic to the city, adorned with beautifully stained-glass windows and fantastically detailed decorations. The best moment to visit the Duomo is to go on a bright sunny day in order to enjoy the stunning views from the upper-level terrace.

I Navigli:
This zone is full of picturesque streets and canals. Originally this part of the city was occupied by markets and local stalls, however nowadays this district is one of the trendiest and chicest places to be. Along these streets you will find a more youthful atmosphere where students often go to meet up over a few drinks in some of Milan’s most stylish new bars.

Nightlife:
When the night comes, Milan comes to life with many areas of city filled with terraces and wonderful bars for people to catch-up and meet with their friends over a few glasses of wine and an aperitif. The best places to soak up Milan’s nightlife have to be: Le Collone di San Lorenzo, il Ticinese, I Navigli and Garibaldi. Collone di San Lorenzo is one of the most exciting areas, with lots of beautiful architecture and places to drink. If you want to mingle with Italy’s most famous stars and celebrities then you might want to head to Garibaldi where you will find the most exclusive bars and clubs such as Casablanca and Hollywood.

What to eat:
Like many cities in Italy, Milan has its own style of cuisine with its own traditional Italian dishes to try. The most famous dish has to be ‘Risotto alla Milanese’ which is made with saffron rice. Another must is the ‘Cotoletta alla Milanese’ which consists of a veal fillet fried in butter usually served with local vegetables. In Milan you can be sure to find something delicious to eat on every street.

Where to stay:
Milan is not just a place for business travellers and business trips, many tourists visit this fantastic city as well. Therefore, you will find many hotels which cater for different needs. Milan attracts many tourists for its stunning architecture, monuments and for its vast array of designer stores and shops. We advise to book a hotel in Milan near the centre of town however, thanks to Milan’s great transport system you can even book a hotel in Milan further out and catch the subway into the centre.
