Considering going on holiday is supposed to be a relaxing experience, I do not think I’m the only one that finds themselves pulling their hair out as they face the barrage of different options. As soon as you find yourself comparing identical resorts and scrolling through a never ending list of hotels it is time to put down the laptop and remember just why you wanted a holiday in the first place. One of the images was of a picture perfect beach in the Turkish region, Dalaman, with crystal clear waters and pure white sand I was soon booking myself a Dalaman flight!
Luckily Dalaman was everything I had hoped it would be, situated between the sea and mountain ranges it offers the best of both worlds. Many people usually find themselves in Dalaman as a stop off on the way to a more commercial holiday resort however as soon as I arrived in the area I was amazed by its vibrant atmosphere. With recent developments on its airport and road ways, the regions is easily accessible for tourists and ideal for those looking to really explore their destination. Unlike some popular resorts, Dalaman offers both geological and historical attractions that are ideal for bringing out the adventurous spirit in us all. From hikes through the stunning landscapes to archaeological excursions, just make sure you do not forget your camera!
As a nature lover it was an added bonus to find that Dalaman is protected against over development due to the rare loggerhead turtles that call the beach their home. Visitors can head to the river and beach areas to observe the animals in their natural environment, if you are lucky enough to head to Dalaman during hatching season it is guaranteed to be a memorable experience.
Along with all of the cultural and natural treats, Dalaman offers a wide range of fantastic restaurants and bars offering everything from traditional Turkish cuisine to international favourites. If you ever find yourself dreading hunting down the ideal destinations, take my advice and leave it all up to your traveller’s instinct!
