In terms of tourism, Beijing is such a BIG city! There are so many boutique hotels in Beijing, so many people, so many heritage listed sites and so many must-see attractions. Today we are checking out the cream of the Beijing crop - looking to traveler reviews to see which Beijing hotels and tours are enjoyed the most.

Cream of the Chinese Crop: Three Best Beijing Hotels and Tours

Hotel G Beijing is the first of an exclusive beijing boutique hotel brand launched by Hong Kong-based real estate private equity management firm Gaw Capital” and a model to be rolled out in selected cities of Asia. For more information, please visit http://www.hotel-g.com.

Trying to spend a weekend in Beijing is like trying to watch the highlights of the Olympics in only two days of competition. There is just too much to see, too much to do, too much to taste and too many lovely people to encounter! When it comes to the big decisions in your holiday (your Beijing hotel and tour operators), though, there are certainly some stand-out options. Today we are looking at the best designer hotels in Beijing, as well as the best guided tours for experiencing the city.

Hotel #1: Hotel G, Beijing

Hotel G in Beijing is unique among Beijing hotels – where there are plenty that offer three star traditional Chinese decors, or four to five star ordinary Western decors, Hotel G was designed for difference. The interior decor,, as well as the neon windows, the most striking feature of the outer decor, were the brainchild of Mark Lintott, a famed European designer. Hotel G has been ranked #1 by the largest traveler reviews site, Tripadvisor, for around 9 months now.

However, it is certainly not all show and no substance – rooms feature surprising little creature comforts like iPod docking stations, luxury bath amenities and a Nintendo Wii available on request. The gym at this hotel in Beijing has the latest, state of the art equipment, and the pool is private and very comfortable. The location is within the Sanlitun district, famous for its bars, nightclubs and trendy atmosphere.

Hotel #2: Hilton Beijing Wangfujing

This hotel in Beijing has been consistently ranked #1 in the city for business travelers for some time now (though Hotel G is coming up a close second!). The service is one of the most appealing things about this Beijing boutique hotel, according to reviewers – staff are attentive, never unsure if they can help with a particular request, but always keen to do any extra thing to please the guest. It is also located close to the shopping malls of Wangfujing Road.

Hotel #3: Orange Hotel

This hotel is ranked nowhere near the illustrious ranks of Hotel G and the Hilton for business travelers – but it does represent a 66% saving off hotels of similar quality, nabbing it the Tripadvisor Top Value icon. You may need to brush up on your conversational Chinese, however.

Tour #1: Hias Gourmet Food Tours

You haven’t had Chinese food until you’ve eaten it in China! There are a range of culinary walking tours available from your Beijing hotel, with different focuses, like the Tea Tasting Safari, Hutong Eats, the Night Market Tour and the Sichuan Farmer’s Market.

Tour #2: Pedicab Hutong tours

This isn’t a single tour as such, but your boutique hotel in Beijing can certainly recommend a rickshaw tour operator for the hutongs. They’ll take you to the Drum Tower, Prince Gong’s mansion, and the courtyard neighborhoods. Arrange your tour through a guide, rather than directly with an operator, to avoid misunderstandings.

Tour #3: Beijing Sideways Motorcycle trips

Beijing Sideways can pick you up from your accommodation in Beijing, and take you to the wild areas of the Great Wall, the Tartare city or the other attractions of Beijing … all riding in a vintage motorcycle sidecar.
