In and around the bustling town you can enjoy the options that city life brings to tourists with various shops, restaurant and different types of entertainment, but instead of fume filled air and sky scrapers blocking the sun you have lush green surroundings and Mount Teide looking down.
The shopping available in Playas de Las Americas is as good as most cities and towns back home plus the fact you can buy various items much cheaper than back in the UK, do, however, be wary of the scam artists at work. While some of the con men trying to sell you what appears to be good quality electrical goods they can be indeed shoddy and worthless, sometimes it can be hard to spot them as they have taken the shape of ordinary human beings but their over enthusiasm for a sale should shine through.
A place where you are guaranteed a good return for your money is Tenerife Pearl which can be found just a little out of town, there you will be able to purchase some top quality jewellery, albeit expensive. If you are looking for a good deal on items then the Sunday market is your best bet but you won’t be getting a great deal on solid gold you will only be haggling over locally made crafts which are best as souvenirs.
When shopping taking it out of you, which to most of us it normally does, you can take a seat and gaze up at Mount Teide which touches to clouds. The scorching sun creates fantastic weather in Las Americas and when you take a break from shop hopping you can try working on your summer tan.
If you go shopping in New York, Paris or Milan you can’t take a break and head to the beach for a few hours relaxation, but you can in Las Americas. After the hectic ‘to buy or not to buy’ scenarios you’ve been through why not let your hair down on a high octane water sport like jet skiing or paragliding. Maybe’s your energy is spent as well as your money and in that case just lay back and relax and let the sun do all the hard work while you recharge your batteries. That might not be a bad idea as when night falls Las Americas takes on a different form, one of a very lively bar and club scene which is one of the key reasons so many people come here each and every year.
