As If It Wasn’t Green Enough
Experience the beauty and volcanic nature of island life this summer in Tenerife. Head over to http://www.cheapholidays.com today and find hundreds of great holiday days for 2010.
The greener aspirations of Tenerife aren’t over the fact they in tend to grow a few more tree’s or plant a few more flower beds, they are actually aiming to become more environmentally friendly in as many ways as possible. Preserving their very own natural flora and fauna is high on the list of priorities, but it goes on. Marine life, fuel consumption and waste are all issues which the holiday island is taking into account due to the fact there is such tourists traffic which creates much of these issues. Tenerife’s environmental conscience is hopefully something that will catch on in other popular places for tourists.
Accommodation is one area that is been changed, although in the form of baby steps. Pass up the chance to stay in a luxury hotel or a swanky holiday villa, why not spend your days on the tropical island of Tenerife relaxing in a bioclimatic holiday village. This creation is the first of its kind in the world and currently there are about 25 or so of them. The homes are self sufficient using solar power and can detect what are the most efficient techniques on keeping things cool. Although this idea is in its infancy it’s certainly a step in the right direction and could be something we are set to experience in the future.
For sure staying in Tenerife doesn’t really occupy most tourists’ thoughts too much when all they want to do is relax on the beach and party at night, spending little or no time in their hotel room. In terms of expenditure on a holiday package then surely this type of accommodation can only help as there be little extra on your charge for electricity usage, though I wouldn’t hold your breath.
I can only imagine that such a popular holiday destination spews out its fair share of Co2 emissions from endless tours, hire cars and boat rides up and down the coast during the busy summer season. I haven’t heard of any efforts to minimise its fossil fuel usage but officials seem to be thinking of things in the right area which says to me that various measures will come into practice over the coming years.
While the promise of becoming environmentally friendly probably doesn’t have you throwing money at travel agents to come to Tenerife, it does ensure that the future of this beautiful and exotic island is been considered so that for years to come people can come bask in its glory.
